Cherry Tree Barn

PROJECT DESCRIPTION
This award winning Barn conversion was ‘highly commended’ by Aylesbury vale Council in their Design Awards for the design and execution of the build and finishes. It has subsequently been featured in a number of publications including AJ (Architects Journal) and Dezeen magazine with others pending.

The barn in its original farm was a cow shed with a milking parlour in what will be the guest wing of the 410m2 barn conversion. The main building elements are a solid oak frame which will be visible from the internal finishes. The frame is then encased in a mass of timber stud and insulation and has been built to supersede building regulations by nearly three times in insulation and thermal capabilities. Triple glazed windows and doors, with a ground source heat pump and mechanical ventilation heat recovery system will mean this house is very close to passive house criteria.

The original brick and steel work stay in place and the remaining will be clad in larch. Completed Jan 2014
